Happy Halloween!

We just got back from Trick or Treating and Spencer scored some great candy. I wasn't sure if he would TorT this year (ya know, too cool for that) but he did. He and David came up with this "hilarious" costume idea so David had his t-shirt made. Since my husband is a Walmart supplier this is probably funnier to him than anyone. Take a look for yourself at the pics. I hope everyone had a great Halloween...can you believe tomorrow is November 1st? 25 days until Thanksgiving!!

My How Time Flies

OH my gosh, where has the time flown? I had two weeks off and they are gone! I have thoroughly enjoyed my time off and I feel like I have made the most of it. My house is clean and better organized. I went shopping, had lunch and breakfast with friends, blogged, took pictures and walked the trail with Lewis. So, all in all I am pretty satisfied with my little vacation. Oh and did I mention that I also slept? Glorious sleep. Every morning the boys leave at 7am for school and work and Lewis and I would go back to bed for about two hours...it was delish. Yesterday (Friday) I took Halloween cupcakes to my new co-workers and introduced D and S to everyone. I am really excited about my new job. It's going to be a great change in my life. If I haven't mentioned David also starts a new job Monday at Starkist...yes the tuna folks. We will go from an abundance of canned veggies to canned tuna. Yum, yum. So, a lot of change going on right now for us but good change. Here are a few pics. I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful Halloween weekend. Can't wait to report about my first day on the job.

Spencer gave his fries from Crabby's a thumbs up! They were yummy!

Pumpkin Party

We went to a great pumpkin party today at our friend's Sean and Stacey's house. There was great food, including David's mac n cheese, cupcakes and fixins like dirt and worms and pumpkin painting. A lot of Spencer's friends were there and they played football and rough housed in the hammock. It was a beautiful Fall afternoon and their house was lovely. They remodeled it and have just moved in...it's really impressive. Here are a few pics from the day.

I did it!!

I made mexican casserole and it was so good! Cheesy, mexican seasoning goodness! I highly recommend it and you can find the recipe here. Spencer even had seconds and said it was one of my better meals which is good because I can only make about 7 meals really good. Spaghetti is still his favorite he declared. What was even more challenging is when I came home yesterday our water was turned off. They finally came out around 8pm and turned it back on due to their mistake...yeah right. Luckily I keep pitchers of water in the fridge so that I could still make my casserole. Here's a picture. When I make it again I will use a lot more cheese but I ran out last night. The crushed tortilla chips turned out really nice as well.

Yummy Discovery

As much as I enjoy writing on my blog, I probably enjoy discovering new blogs better. There are so many talented ladies out there writing blogs and I love following them! Here's a blog that I just discovered from another great blog I love to follow Kevin & Amanda. On the Plain Chicken blog she has a mexican casserole that looks amazing and I can't wait to try it tonight! Now most of you know that I am domestically challenged and am grateful everyday that my darling husband is so good in the kitchen. I feel confident I can make this casserole and make my two boys smile at the same time! I will let you know how it goes and how it tastes but it looks really good.

Rainy Tuesdays

I woke up to rain this morning and that is a good thing except for the fact that Lewis has to go out first thing in the morning and he's now all wet. I was planning to mop my floors but I better wait until it stops raining if I don't want to lose my mind! Yesterday was day one of my two weeks off before my new job and I got started on my "little" project. I'm cleaning the entire house and getting rid of clutter. I plan to have a huge donation for the Salvation Army by Friday. I tackled the master bed room, closets and master bathroom yesterday. Two rooms down and about 7 to go! It feels good to get everything really clean and organized. Today I have to go to the grocery store because I am out of just about every cleaning product I own.

Sunday we went to Carolyn's for brunch. It was a lot of fun and she made three really amazing breakfast casseroles. I do love a casserole. We also drew names for Christmas gifts...it's almost Christmas time!!! My favorite time of year, I can't wait. So, while at Carolyn's I noticed Spencer was just a hair taller than her so I snapped their picture! Maybe one day I will have a picture of him with his nephews who are all very tall!

New Beginnings

On November 1 I will start my new job as the Director of the Rogers Visitors Bureau. I am so excited! I resigned yesterday from my job that I have had for over 8 years. It was a tough decision because I built the bureau in Fayetteville but a decision I had to make. Things have been very tough on me for the last 4 years and I've not been happy for a long time. It's very important to be happy in your job...it's difficult because after all it is a job...but I believe I am going to be very happy in my new role. I am finally going to be paid what I am worth and I have a huge convention center to sell!! It's funny, I likened this experience of quitting like breaking up with an abusive boyfriend (which sadly I've done before) you know you need to do it but something keeps you there a little longer and when you finally decide to do it you are scared but then you wake up the next day and the sun came out and everything was just a little brighter and a little sweeter. I am very proud of myself for standing up and walking out. So to all my family and friends you can now eat in Rogers anytime you like...I don't get the tax but it's fine all the same. If you would like to stay in a hotel, please choose one in Rogers...I do get that tax! I am taking the next two weeks off to decompress and clean house.

Today I took my mother-n-law Carolyn to War Eagle. We had a great time. It was really chilly in the morning but soon it warmed up nicely. We saw a lot of junk and some really cool stuff. War Eagle isn't as good as it used to be or maybe I've just seen it all now. There were a lot of soap makers which made me laugh. We ate corn dogs and kettle korn and Carolyn helped me secure two fall sprays for my front doors. We almost had to tackle a lady but it worked out. I bought this really cute Santa. I can't wait for the holidays. It's going to be a very holly jolly Christmas for me this year!

Spencer is taller than...

I've decided to start this new thing where I photograph Spencer with folks he's taller than now. He is growing so fast that I should rack up a lot of photos very soon. This is Claire his hairdresser. Spencer really likes Claire and you can probably see why, she's cute as can be and she takes good care of his hair...Spencer loves his hair. Claire also does my hair, my dad's hair and sometimes my husband and mom's hair! She's really great and works at Shag on Block Ave.

Get Your Motor Runnin

Last week was Bikes, Blues and BBQ in Fayetteville and it was a lot of fun. There were lots of people, in fact each day more and more folks kept showing up to enjoy our great city. I ate some incredible food...too much incredible food! Let's see I had corn dogs, twirly potatoes, gyros, kettle korn and lots of lemonade. Yum yum. I also got to ride in a helicopter which was really cool. It was my first time and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I hope everyone had a great week. I am looking forward to another great week...I'm expecting some great news and it's my 20 year high school reunion on Friday and Saturday. I can't wait to see everyone!
